Bigger and better fireworks display in Blackpool this autumn

Blackpool’s annual fireworks display is always hugely popular and attracts many thousands of the visitors to the town, however the explosive spectacular will be even bigger this year with an extra day added to the event, courtesy of a brand new sponsorship deal with Coral Island.

Coral Island is a premier seafront family entertainment centre and it will be putting its name to the eagerly awaited World Fireworks Championship which Blackpool will host. Three nations will take part in this event and it will be held on alternate Saturdays on 17th September, 1st October and 15th October. These amazing displays are all set to music and they will be taking place above the beach close to the Blackpool Tower, the showcase event set to take place on Friday, 28th October.

All of these thrilling firework displays will be completely free to access.

The annual Blackpool firework display has become one of the biggest events at the resort each year and details of the countries competing in the event will soon be announced.

Leader of Blackpool Council, Lynn Williams, said: “We are delighted that we have been able to add a fourth event thanks to the support of Coral Island.

“Our firework nights are always very special and attract a huge crowd from across the region. The extra event will serve as a fitting finale to the October half-term holiday.”

These four firework displays are just part of an eagerly-anticipated events programme which will see the welcome return of the popular two-day Blackpool Air Show on 13th and 14th August, featuring the Red Arrows which will perform (weather permitting) over the seafront on both days. The famous Blackpool Illuminations get underway on 2nd September with a Switch-On concert and the Lightpool Festival takes place between 14th and 29th October.
