Blackpool Tower named as one of the most beautiful structures in the UK

Recent research has highlighted the 30 most beautiful structures in the UK and the iconic Blackpool Tower has made it onto this prestigious list.

Most beautiful buildings in the country

Leonardo Hotels UK & Ireland have compiled their latest findings from a UK-wide poll which was undertaken to find the most beautiful buildings in the country. Many famous and popular landmarks made it onto the list, including St Paul’s Cathedral, The Barbican, York Minster, Buckingham Palace, Battersea Power Station, Highclere Castle and our very own Blackpool Tower.

Structures that the country holds dear

This selection is clearly highly subjective, however it highlights the buildings and structures that the country hold dear and Blackpool Tower came 18th in the Top 30 list, beating the likes of Whitby Abbey, Caernarfon Castle, Liver Building, Liverpool and Highclere Castle of Downton Abbey fame.

One of the most instantly recognisable landmarks

Opened in 1894 and celebrating its 130th birthday this year, Blackpool Tower is one of the most instantly recognisable landmarks in the UK and attracts many thousands of visitors each year. Indeed the structure is part of a larger entertainment complex which includes the world-famous Blackpool Tower Ballroom and hugely popular Blackpool Tower Circus which is one of the oldest in the world.

Spectacular views out to sea

Visitors to the tower can take the lift up to the viewing platforms where there are spectacular views out to the Irish Sea and on a clear day, the Isle of Man, North Wales and the Lake District can be seen.
