Lytham 1940s Weekend to take place in August
Whisk yourself back to 1940 in the beautiful seaside resort of Lytham with two days of free entertainment in the entertainment marquee on Lytham Green on Saturday, 17th August and Sunday, 18th August 2024.
George Formby
Lytham is an extremely popular laid-back resort with an extensive line-up of events throughout the summer and one of the most popular is the annual 1940s weekend which will return in 2024. Hear the rousing wartime speeches of Winston Churchill (performed by Derek Herbert) and enjoy the sound of George Formby (performed by Colin Bourdiec). Making an appearance at the 1940 weekend for the second year running will be the Bluebirds UK while those with two left feet can hone their dancing skills (or lack of them) with Anthony and Steph who will take you through your paces on both days.
Military vehicles
As well as a full line-up of entertainment throughout the day, visitors can see a selection of military vehicles of all shapes and sizes, including a Mussel Tank (weather permitting). The Kalamazoo Dance Band will provide visitors with entertainment in the main marquee on Saturday 17th August (evening only) and this will include a fully licensed bar. The doors for the evening event open at 7.30pm and tickets are priced at a reasonable £15.
Lowther Pavilion
The Lowther Pavilion is situated close to Lytham Green and here you can enjoy more 1940s entertainment which will include a ‘We’ll Meet Again’ event on Friday, 16th August as well as a 1940s dance the following evening. The entertainment provided by Lowther Pavilion doesn’t come under the auspices of Lytham 1940s weekend, therefore any queries regarding the event should be directed at Lowther Pavilion.
