Discover hidden gems along the rail line to Lytham St Annes
A brand new leaflet has just been launched aimed at encouraging visitors to discover the many attractions which exist along the South Fylde Rail Line. The leaflet can be picked up at all local train stations and tourist information offices throughout the areas and it highlights the numerous attractions that can be easily accessed along the line between Blackpool South and Preston.
This line also serves Blackpool Pleasure Beach and both Lytham and St Annes where you can enjoy uncrowded beaches whatever the weather as well as a popular pier which rivals those of Blackpool itself. The parks and gardens in Lytham and St Annes make for a welcome escape for those who wish to take a break from the brashness of Blackpool and from here you can enjoy wonderful views across the Ribble Estuary towards Southport and beyond. Visit the popular Fairhaven Lake or just relax with an ice cream on the attractive promenade, the choice is yours.
While both Lytham and St Annes are both far quieter and slower-paced than Blackpool, there are many bars and restaurants in the town centre and along the sea front, while there are many excellent walks in the locality. All of these attractions are listed in the new leaflet.
The leaflet was officially launched last week by Fylde mayor Councillor Ben Aitken and mayoress Bernadette Nolan at St Annes railway station.
The mayor said: “I was delighted to launch the South Fylde Line leaflet during Community Rail week.
“The leaflet is a great way to discover the many hidden gems along the South Fylde Line and a perfect summer’s day out with all the family.”
