Blackpool Air Show to return in August 2022

Blackpool Air Show set to return this summer

The must loved Blackpool Air Show is set to make a welcome return in August 2022 after a two-year absence with organisers working on a thrilling programme.

Set to take place on the weekend of 13th and 14th August 2022, Blackpool Air Show is to make a comeback after an absence of two years. The 2020 and 2021 events were cancelled  due to the Covid-19 pandemic, however prior to this the event regularly attracted up to 100,000 visitors. The airshow attracts some of the finest civilian and military aircraft and pilots who perform high above the iconic promenade. Attendees in recent years have included the ever-popular Red Arrows, however the RAF display team haven’t yet confirmed their attendance for the 2022 event. Other notable attractions have included an RAF Typhoon fighter aircraft, wing walk daredevils and the RAF Battle of Britain Memorial Flight with its Spitfire, Hurricane and iconic Lancaster bomber.

While the full line-up of visiting aircraft and display acts is yet to be confirmed, hopes are high that some very high profile acts will be on the cards.

The Blackpool Air Show is perhaps the most high-profile of many events that have had to be cancelled or curtailed in the past two years due to the Covid-19 pandemic, however 2022 is set to see a full programme of traditional events and a host of new ones will be announced here in the coming months. Indeed 2022 promises to be a bumper year for Blackpool as an increasing number of holidaymakers choose the seaside destination over foreign resorts. The 2021/22 winter season was the best in many years and the indications are that the coming spring and summer seasons could be the biggest yet.
