Dates – August 13th – August 14th 2022, Blackpool Promenade
Air shows have been hugely popular throughout the UK for many years and Blackpool can claim to be one of the pioneers for air displays in this country. Blackpool Airport is the oldest still-operational civilian airfield in the UK and upon its opening it played host to a large airshow which attracted many thousands of eager spectators. Since then there have been numerous air displays along the seafront with the more recent events attracting upwards of 100,000 spectators although there haven’t been any air shows over the last two years due to Covid-19 restrictions.
Nevertheless it has just been announced that the popular air show will return this August with the display once again taking place high above the promenade. The dates for the event are the weekend of 13th and 14th August 2022 and while the final line-up of participants is yet to be announced, it is expected that some high profile display acts will once again be in attendance.
The RAF Red Arrows display team have been regulars at this event in past years and while they have yet to confirm their attendance in 2022, it is hoped that the ever-popular act will return. Similarly the Battle of Britain Memorial Flight with its Lancaster, Hurricane and Spitfire generally make an appearance as does the RAF Typhoon fighter aircraft.
The Blackpool Air Show is a massive event which regularly attracts huge numbers of spectators, therefore if you wish to visit on the weekend of 13th and 14th August 2022, it is advisable that you make your preparations as quickly as possible and check out hotel or guest-house availability well in advance of the event.
News of the final list of participants for the 2022 Blackpool Air Show is expected soon and we will bring you the most up-to-date news on the event as it happens.
