Road closures planned for Blackpool Pride festival

Visitors planning to travel to Blackpool by car this weekend are being urged to plan ahead as the promenade will be closed for the 2024 Blackpool Pride festival and associated events.

Road closures

The 2024 Blackpool, Wyre and Fylde Pride Festival gets underway this weekend with events taking place on both Saturday and Sunday. Headline acts throughout the weekend include The Cheeky Girls, Natasha Hamilton (from Atomic Kitten) and Deeper Shade of Blue, while the street party will also include Ru Paul’s Drag Race. As a result of these events, Blackpool Promenade will be completely closed on Saturday to allow for the street events as well as the main parade.

Together we are stronger

The road closure will be in effect from 9:30 to 12:00 noon between Burlington Road West and Springfield Road, however there may well be congestion along the Promenade throughout the day. The Pride Festival Parade is scheduled to start at 11:00, starting at Sandcastle Waterpark and ending at North Pier. This year’s theme for the parade is ‘together we are stronger’.

Diversions

Blackpool Council are urging motorists to either avoid the area completely on Saturday or plan extra time for journeys to and from the town. There will be signage advising of diversions throughout the weekend and there will also be some additional parking restrictions in the town centre and along the Promenade. As well as the main events taking place on the seafront, other unofficial events may take place throughout the weekend and these may also cause some traffic issues. Please allow plenty of time to make your journey.
