New hotel rooms given approval as Blackpool restaurant closes

Plans which involve the conversion of a former Blackpool restaurant into fifteen new hotel rooms have been given the go ahead by Town Hall planners.

Hotel rooms in huge demand

With the number of visitors to Blackpool increasing hugely over the past few years, hotel rooms are in huge demand and the news that the town will be given extra accommodation has been welcomed by tourism chiefs. The scheme will involve the site of the former Brewers Fayre restaurant on Yeadon Way which was recently closed and which will be converted to fifteen new rooms for the adjacent Premier Inn.

External and internal alterations

Brewers Fayre announced earlier this year that around 200 of its restaurants (including some Beefeater restaurants) would be closed in order to allow for more hotel rooms, all of which will be en-suite with at least one window. Plans for the Yeadon Way site include alterations to the ground floor of the building, both externally and internally, as well as the removal of a play area and complete conversion of the restaurant and adjacent staff accommodation into more hotel rooms and breakfast area.

Completely covered

At present, the Brewers Fayre site and adjacent Premier League are not linked, however there is just a short distance between the buildings and this is completely covered to ensure that guests can move between the reception area and the rooms without being exposed to any inclement weather.

The application was approved by Town Hall planners, using delegated powers.
