Iconic Blackpool building could be turned into a hotel

One of the most iconic buildings along Blackpool’s famous seafront has been acquired by a developer and the aim is to turn the upper floors of the building into a hotel.

Prime Location

The Pricebusters Building is one of Blackpool’s landmark buildings and occupies a prime site in Bank Hey Street next to the famous Blackpool Tower. This particular building has been home to a Woolworths store and the popular Pricebusters Indoor Market in the past, however the only two tenants at present are Wetherspoons and Poundland with many units empty since the departure of Sports Direct.

Hotel Chain

The Nottingham-based ALB Group have acquired the building and they are hopeful of securing a hotel chain to occupy the upper floor of the building. This building would be an ideal location for a hotel, being right on the seafront and within easy walking distance of the main town centre attractions such as Blackpool Tower, SEALIFE Blackpool and the three piers. Also, the increased footfall provided by the hotel would be warmly welcomed by local retailers.

Iconic Building

Managing director of ALB Group, Arran Bailey, said: “The old Pricebusters building is without a doubt one of the most iconic buildings in Blackpool.

“Unfortunately, as the cost-of-living crisis begins to bite, we are losing so many shops from the Great British high street and we need to do all we can to prevent this from happening.”
