Five-storey hotel next to Winter Gardens proposed

Land owned by Blackpool Council could be used as the site for a new five-storey hotel development which would be used primarily for the adjacent Blackpool Winter Gardens.

Brand new five storey hotel facility

Blackpool Council is working alongside C1 Capital on a new development which would see a brand new five-storey hotel constructed close to the hugely popular Winter Gardens. Outline planning permission is in place for the development which would centre around a new 160-bedroom hotel, however the planning committee is being urged to consider a variation to the scheme which would allow larger political conferences and other events where high security is of the utmost importance. This would involve Leopold Grove being completely closed in order for delegates to move around without leaving a secure area.

Larger footprint of hotel

The revised blueprint also includes the removal of the planned footbridge which would have linked the conference centre to the new hotel development, while the total number of car parking spaces available for the project has been reduced due to the larger footprint of the hotel and will now number just ten.

Wealth of high quality hotel accommodation

Blackpool already has a wealth of high quality hotel accommodation on offer, however much of this consists of smaller guest houses and B&B establishments. The centre of town would certainly benefit from additional and more diverse types of hotel accommodation, especially since the needs of business travellers differs considerably from the traditional tourist visitor.
