Blackpool has been named as one of the top places in the UK in which to take a winter break, a recent study highlighting the affordability of the resort compared to other destinations in the UK. 

 

Affordable winter break

Blackpool is very much a year-round seaside resort with much to see and do throughout the winter months, however a study by Hot Tub Breaks has highlighted the town’s suitability for those looking for an affordable winter break. Indeed, the Lancashire resort scored extremely highly for affordability, a hotel room in the town costing an average of £72.18 per night with a three-course meal costing just £45 for two people. Blackpool’s popular beaches were also regarded as a top winter attraction, while the famous Blackpool Illuminations attracted huge numbers of visitors to the town up to and including the festive period.

 

Families of all ages

Throughout the winter months, Blackpool continues to welcome families of all ages who are attracted by the great variety of activities such as Blackpool Tower, Blackpool Tower Circus, the Illuminations, Sea Life Blackpool and the three piers. The town possess some of the most budget friendly hotels and guest houses in the UK with something to suit all tastes, while the numerous restaurants, bars and cafes cater for year-round visitors. Top spot in the study went to the Scottish capital Edinburgh, although the city lagged behind Blackpool in terms of overall affordability. Glasgow, Manchester and Birmingham took the next three places behind Blackpool.
