Blackpool named as one of the best seaside towns in UK

A listing compiled by the Daily Express has placed Blackpool in the top twelve in the UK, the resort comparing favourably when compared to the rest of the seaside destinations from the south coast to Scotland.

Unexpected bonus

The UK has a rich and diverse range of seaside towns and with many opting to take their holidays closer to home, the seaside destinations are reaping the rewards with upwards of 179 million taking day trips each year. This has been an unexpected bonus for a tourism industry which has struggled in the war of the Covid restrictions and the trend looks set to continue.

Seaside resorts are booming

Each and every one of us has our own favourite seaside destination and for completely different reasons. It might be a place where you went as a kid or somewhere you took your own children. Either way, Britain’s seaside resorts are booming right now and none more so than Blackpool which has been named the friendliest large destination in the UK, the resort earning an excellent 79.9 out of 100 and beating off fierce competition from the likes of Edinburgh, York and Brighton.

Friendliest in the UK

The Daily Express list included the UK’s favourite seaside destinations overall and here Blackpool was placed tenth overall. The town was the only one from Lancashire to appear on the lost and the resort was praised for being the friendliest in the UK.

If you haven’t been, you haven’t lived

The Daily Express said: “Recently named the UK’s friendliest seaside town, Blackpool is a British seaside holiday staple. If you haven’t been to the Lancashire gem, then you haven’t lived.

“I recently visited it for the first time in years to find out whether it lived up to my childhood memories – and it once again exceeded my expectations.

“With Blackpool, what you see is what you get – cheap £1.80 pints at the Ardwick pub, delicious fish and chips aplenty, and thrills and spills at the iconic Pleasure Beach.

“However, it’s also rolling with the times, having recently opened an incredible new attraction, the Showtown Museum, which is loved equally among tourists and locals. And with a new tram line taking visitors from Blackpool North station directly into the town centre, its easier to navigate than ever before.

“Relax in the Tower Ballroom as couple’s dance the afternoon away or enjoy a serene stroll along the beach exploring one of the town’s three incredible piers – just watch out for the seagulls!”

You really can’t argue with that!
