Blackpool’s new IMAX Cinema to open on 22nd March 2024

Investment in Blackpool and the surrounding area has continued unabated through the winter months and one of the largest projects involves a new multi-million pound IMAX cinema which will throw open its doors later this month. New Blackpool IMAX to open this month

Blackpool is booming right now with many new development projects underway or in the pipeline and one of the largest is creeping closer to completion. The eagerly-awaited Blackpool IMAX cinema is one of many major developments underway in the town and the venue is scheduled for completion by the spring of 2024 with an opening date of 22nd March 2024.

Close to completion

The cinema complex is part of an extension to the popular Houndshill Shopping Centre and the cladding on the development is close to completion. Work on the interior of the cinema got underway last autumn (October 2023) and this will include an IMAX screen. Indeed, the cinema complex will offer a grand total of nine screens when complete and there will also be an e-sports gaming area as well as the Backlot Diner which will feature an outdoor dining area. This new complex will include a large bar area as well as a studio and the focus here will be celebrating local communities and arts from around the Blackpool area.

Continued optimism

This new cinema development is further testament to the continued optimism surrounding Blackpool right now. On the back of a massive increase in visitor numbers over pre-Covid years, there has also been a notable increase in investment in the area and this has resulted in numerous developments across Blackpool, including new hotel accommodation and business premises. There is no indication that this investment will slow down any time soon and as such, the future is looking pretty bright for Blackpool at the moment.
