Blackpool’s Backlot IMAX cinema and diner to open at Easter

 

The eagerly awaited opening of the new Backlot IMAX cinema and diner will soon take place, the venue set to throw open its doors to the public during the Easter holidays.

 

Best cinematic experience

Situated in the next extension of Houndshill Shopping Centre, the Backlot Cinema will soon be opening its doors to the public. Featuring an IMAX screen and a diner, this new facility will bring to the town the very best entertainment and will include one of the largest screens in the north-west of England. This IMAX screen measures 10.85 metres in height and 19.87 metres in width, while it is equipped with ‘IMAX with Laser which will bring audiences the very best cinematic experience with lifelike images and precision audio. The cinema will be showing Dune: Part Two in the premier IMAX screen from March 22nd.

 

American diner

At this new venue, cinema-goers can enjoy the very latest film releases, arthouse films and old classic favourites such as Mary Poppins (original). As well as cinema screens, Backlot is also designed to be an entertainment and arts hub for both visitors to the town and the local community. The facility will be able to host conferences and events such as community meet ups and comedy nights. At Backlot, visitors can also indulge themselves with an American diner serving up hotdogs, burgers and milkshakes, as well as delicious desserts such as sundaes and pancakes.

 

Wider regeneration

The opening of this new facility is part of a wider regeneration programme which has helped attract outside investment into the town centre as well as other areas of the town.
