Blackpool’s Dance Festival at the world-famous Winter Gardens is the largest of its type anywhere in the world and it has returned to the town for the 98th year. 

Dance Festival now very much in full swing

The Blackpool Dance Festival is now very much in full swing at Blackpool’s Winter Gardens and over 25,000 visitors will descend upon the resort for the 98th edition of the colourful dance spectacular. The festival started on 18th May and will continue until 31st May at the famous Winter Gardens and the local economy will be boosted by an estimated £6 million as a result of the event.

Dancers representing over fifty different countries

Over 2,000 official competitors will take part in the Dance Festival while there will be around 3,000 dances performed over the thirteen days of the event, the dancers representing over 50 different countries in Latin American and Ballroom categories. The event has grown in size enormously over the years and it now the foremost dance competition and festival of its type in the world, providing Blackpool with a huge boost.

Indeed, tourism is key to Blackpool’s continued success and the Dance Festival is the biggest single contributor to Blackpool’s tourism industry which is estimated to be worth around £1.7 billion.

Hugely popular venue

Blackpool Winter Gardens is a hugely popular venue which includes the historic ballroom and theatre as well as a modern conference centre with state-of-the-art facilities. The venue occupies a site of just under five acres right in the town centre and the ballroom itself is the UK’s largest.
