Blackpool’s famous beaches have long been recognised as some of the best in the country but they have now earned awards for their cleanliness, water quality and facilities.

Rightly proud

As the premier seaside destination in the country, Blackpool is rightly proud of its beautiful beaches and they have now been recognised for their water quality, facilities and general cleanliness by Keep Britain Tidy. Seaside Awards have been handed to Bispham, Blackpool central and Blackpool South beaches and they have been rated as amongst the very best beaches in the UK.

Beach Patrol teams

Blackpool has in excess of 1000 litter bins throughout the town and this includes 250 along the Promenade, all of which are high capacity. These are all emptied each and every day as a rule, however this is increased when visitor numbers are higher than usual or the weather is hotter. There are also many volunteers who devote much of their spare time to ensuring that Blackpool’s beaches are free of litter and there are Beach Patrol teams whose job is to ensure the cleanliness and safety of the beaches.

Collective efforts

These awards are in recognition to all those who help keep Blackpool’s beaches clean and they are a real credit in their collective efforts, whether they be volunteers, patrol teams or just those who decide to put their rubbish into one of the many bins along the Promenade.

Seaside awards are presented each year to the best beaches in the country and they celebrate the diversity and quality of the stunning coastline that we possess.
