Blackpool enjoys bumper 2021/22 winter season
Blackpool businesses have been celebrating a bumper winter season with visitors flocking to the seaside resort throughout the festive period. For Christmas 2021, Blackpool was crowned as the cheapest UK Christmas attraction for families, an independent study concluding that the total price for a family of four was as little as £37.
Blackpool hosted a huge range of events and attractions throughout the winter season including snowfalls, ice skating, the magic forest, a projection show, the famous illuminations, the Winter Gardens Wonderland and the Star Flyer ride. Those who live in the town are celebrating one of the best seasons ever with a huge buzz around town throughout the winter months, especially on the promenade.
The feedback on social media channels has been hugely encouraging and local businesses have been reaping the rewards for going above and beyond to help create a season to remember. The extended Blackpool Illuminations was a huge success and helped attract more visitors to the town, the event set to return for another extended stay in 2022/23.
Indeed given that Covid-19 restrictions have meant that overseas travel has been somewhat curtailed throughout 2021, the coming summer and winter seasons look set to break records as more and more holidaymakers opt to take their breaks in the UK.
Blackpool’s winter season saw the world-famous Blackpool Illuminations extended until 3rd January and it was clear by the start of December that this decision was paying off. The Winter Gardens Wonderland provided visitors with Bavarian-style Christmas markets as well as an ice rink and Santa’s grotto.
The Star Flyer also made a welcome appearance, Europe’s biggest travelling aerial ride proving to be a massive hit with those brave enough to ride it soaring to half the height of Blackpool Tower. The Winter Gardens Wonderland is set to return in the 2022/23 winter season along with the Christmas Market and other attractions.
