World Fireworks Championship set to light up sky in October
The World Fireworks Championship is one of the biggest events in Blackpool’s annual calendar and this year’s show promises to be one of the best yet.
Organisers describe the World Fireworks Championship as one of the most thrilling and spectacular events in the seaside resort and it’s certainly true that the show attracts many thousands of extra visitors to the town each year. Synchronised to music, the fireworks take place right in front of the famous Blackpool Tower and the three event nights are Saturday, 16th September, Saturday 30th September and Friday, 20th October.
The 2023 event will get underway on 16th September with what promises to be a thrilling display by AMFQ _ Azan Morani Fireworks – and this will be the first ever firework display by an Indian team in the UK. Founded in 1937, AMFQ have programmed and designed some of the world’s biggest and most complex displays.
The second display of the 2023 World Fireworks Championship on 30th September will be undertaken by SUGYP, a Swiss pyrotechnics company. This long established company has been on the scene since 1967 and have been involved in displays across Europe as well as Canada, the Philippines, Macau and Vietnam.
The final performance at this year’s event will be undertaken by Pirotecnica Soldi, an Italian fireworks company. Held on 20th October, this will run alongside the Blackpool Lightpool Festival which takes place on the Tower Headland. Pirotecnica Soldi are the oldest of the three fireworks companies at this year’s Championship having been founded in 1869 and they have performed at high profile events in the UK, Canada, France, Belgium, Spain and Switzerland.
