Blackpool Winter Gardens

The C.S. Lewis novel The Lion, The Witch and The Wardrobe is celebrating its 75th anniversary next year and the producers of the theatre version have announced that the show will embark on a UK tour, starting in December 2024. The new production will get underway at the Playhouse in Leeds on 15th December and it will come to the Blackpool Winter Gardens on 29th July 2025 where it will continue until 2nd August.

Adventure story

The Lion, The Witch and The Wardrobe is a popular adventure story where four children – Lucy, Susan, Edmund and Peter – find an enchanted land at the back of their wardrobe. They wave goodbye to a Britain engulfed in war and embark upon an adventure to a faraway land where they come across magical figures in the form of talking beavers, a wicked witch, Tumulus the faun and Aslan the lion (and king of Narnia).

Award-winning cast

The C.S. Lewis story was first published in 1950 and in the years since, an amazing 85 million copies of the book have been produced across 60 different languages. Indeed, it has become one of the best selling books in history and the stage adaptation has been hugely popular. The new touring production will feature numerous award-winning actors and actresses, including Katy Stephens who has performed in leading roles for the Royal Shakespeare Company and at Shakespeare’s Globe. She will play the role of the White Witch as well as Mrs Macready.
