Crazy Golf on Blackpool Promenade set to reopen
Blackpool Promenade is world renowned with views out to the Irish Sea and the news that the once popular Crazy Golf site on the promenade is set to reopen soon has been welcomed by local sea visitors alike.
Crazy Golf on Blackpool Promenade set to reopen
Princes Parade Crazy Golf on the promenade has been hugely popular with holidaymakers since the 1950s and it is set to reopen after being refurbished with lottery funds.
Lottery money used to refurbish the facility
Princes Parade Crazy Golf is situated close to the Metropole Hotel in the North Shore area of town and had been hugely popular with holidaymakers for many decades, however the site had fallen into disrepair until 2021 when lottery money was used to completely refurbish the facility. Since then, the 18-hole crazy golf site has been used to help raise funds for Street Angels who allocate all funds towards helping marginalised and disadvantaged local people in Blackpool and the surrounding area. It has been a genuine concern amongst Blackpool residents and visitors alike that the facility hasn’t reopened for business as yet in 2024 and it is looking somewhat unkempt with rough sleepers on site, while a proposed reopening date of June has come and gone.
News has been positive
Street Angels have yet to comment on their proposals for the crazy golf site but news from elsewhere has been more positive. Blackpool Council have announced that they are in the final stages of agreeing a new contract with the Street Angels and that the facility will soon be open for business in the next few weeks. They claim that there have been no reports of rough sleepers in the grounds or vicinity, while the plan is for the site to be made suitable for visitors in the next few weeks.
