Blackpool Model Tramway to return this weekend

Blackpool is playing host to a dazzling celebration of model trams and tramways this weekend and visitors are welcome to come aboard and enjoy the displays.

Blackpool Model Tramway proved to be extremely popular in 2023 and the exhibition is to return to our favourite seaside resort this weekend with no less than 25 layouts which depict tramway scenes not just from Blackpool but from many systems throughout the country and further afield. The big event is being organised by Corporation Model Trams of Burnley with support from the Tramway and Light Railway Society and it is being held at the Solaris Centre, New South Promenade.

The 2024 Blackpool Model Tramway Exhibition takes place on Saturday, 4th May (10.00am – 5.00pm) and Sunday, 5th May (10.00am – 4.00pm).

Trams of all shapes and sizes

Tram fans can see trams of all shapes and sizes in the exhibition, while outside a range of life-size working vintage and modern trams will continue to ply their trade along the famous promenade. Indeed, trams have for many decades been a major part of a holiday in Blackpool and this exhibition will feature many of the vehicles which have for generations graced the seafront and carried countless passengers.

Large number of visitors expected

The Blackpool Model Tramway Exhibition was held at the Blackpool Transport depot between 2016 and 2019, however the event was put on hold during the Covid-19 lockdown. The 2023 event was hugely successful and the indications are that the 2024 event will attract a large number of visitors.

Tickets for the event are priced at a reasonable £6 for adults and £4 for children.
