Blackpool’s 97th Dance Festival gives town huge boost

In excess of 2,000 dancers from around 50 countries were watched by over 13,000 spectators in the 97th Blackpool Dance Festival which was held at the world-famous Winter Gardens.

Massive boost for Blackpool

Blackpool’s 97th Dance Festival was a massive success and with 2,000 competitors taking part and 13,000 spectators enjoying the show, it gave the town a boost worth an estimated £6 million. Twelve months in the planning, organisers have hailed the Festival as “an event to remember for years to come”.

Biggest Dance Festival yet

The latest Dance Festival was the biggest yet with every single room in the Winter Gardens being used for the occasion. Bar areas were used as boutiques as shoe designers and dress designers arrived to show their wares to the dancers.

New dance floor commissioned

The organisers commissioned a full sized dance floor in the new conference centre for the first ever, thus allowing competitors to put in practice prior to and during the event. This was welcomed by dancers who were thrilled to be able to put in some eleventh-hour rehearsal and practice time.

Largest and longest-running in the world

The Dance Festival took place over fourteen days and every single inch of the 4.9 acre Winter Gardens was taken up with practice areas, exhibitions and a sprung floor in the main pavilion. Blackpool Dance Festival is the largest and longest running festival of its kind in the world and it is twelve months in the planning. The 2023 event was the biggest festival to date with some extra days added to the schedule.
