Manchester to Blackpool bike ride 2023: All you need to know

The ever-popular Manchester to Blackpool bicycle ride is set to make a return during the summer, the challenging 60-mile route from Manchester to the Lancashire coast on course to raise thousands of pounds for the chosen charity, The Christie Cancer Charity. British Cycling organise the popular event which has four different grades, all of which will suit every ability from fun cyclist to serious competitor. Riders have the option of taking on the journey either as a group or individually.

The Manchester to Blackpool bike ride will take place on July 9th and will begin in Salford at the Piazza at Media City (postcode M50 2EQ). The full route is suitable for all types of bike such as hybrid, road and mountain. Along the route there will be numerous refreshment stops, particularly on the more remote sections, while there will also be many marshals as well as medical personnel, cycle mechanics and pick up vehicles.

From Salford, cyclists will proceed through the town of Leigh and then towards Preston and Warton before reaching Blackpool. At the finish line there will be live music on offer as well as a beer tent and food outlets. A member of The Christy Charity team will greet all finishers who will be presented with a medal.

This is an event which will appeal to cyclists of all abilities and it promises to be a very well patronised event. Hundreds of cyclists are set to take part and they will cheered all the way along the route by spectators.
